Intuition or Fear? How to Know the Difference

May 29, 2024

A few months ago I decided to create an online course. In my gut this new idea made sense on many levels and I could clearly see how it aligned with my long term goals.

However once I began to take action towards this goal, an internal resistance began to emerge.

Where am I going to find the time to do this?

Do I really have what it takes to put this together?

Is this really the best use of my time and money?

The problem was the doubts also made sense, making it difficult to know which path to pursue. Its at this point that many of us question our original intention and jump ship.

However, if you were absolutely convinced that your initial idea was your intuitive wisdom speaking would you press on in the face of internal resistance and fear?

If you answered yes, then knowing the difference between intuition and fear is imperative to achieving your goals
First, let’s understand Intuition…

Intuition, often described as a gut feeling or inner knowing, is a subtle yet profound aspect of human consciousness.

It arises from a place of deep wisdom, tapping into our innate understanding beyond the confines of logic and reason.Intuition speaks softly, nudging us towards paths aligned with our highest good.

It emanates from a space of tranquility and clarity, guiding us with a gentle hand through life’s uncertainties.

Recognizing fear…

In contrast to intuition, fear manifests as a primal instinct designed to protect us from perceived threats.

While intuition emanates from a place of calm assurance, fear arises from agitation and apprehension.

It thrives on doubt and uncertainty, often clouding our judgement and obscuring the path forward. Fear, though a natural response to danger, can also be triggered by imagined or exaggerated threats, leading us astray from our true purpose.

Distinguishing Between the Two…

At times, discerning between intuition and fear can be challenging, as both may present themselves in similar ways. However, there are key distinctions to consider:

1. Physical Sensations:

Intuition often brings about a sense of ease and clarity, while fear may manifest as tension or discomfort in the body.

2. Clarity vs. Confusion:

Intuition provides clear, concise guidance and urges us to take action on a desire, whereas fear tends to cloud the mind with confusion and doubt and urges us to back off from a desire.

3. Long-Term vs. Short-Term:

Intuition typically aligns with our long-term goals and values while fear often prompts immediate, short-term reactions.

4. Empowerment vs. Limitation:

Intuition empowers us to embrace new opportunities and challenges, while fear urges us to stay safe and small, limiting our potential and hindering growth.
